King James De La Rosa, professional boxer, found the importance of Warren's training to prevent injury (joint range of motion) and increase his effectiveness when training with Danny who is one of the most wanted boxing coaches known!
In these very unique sports, there is a great need for individualized program design to guarantee peak performance. Not all atheletes are created equally and if the wrong principles are applied, it can cost them their match in a blink of an eye! Everyone has experienced that coach or trainer who tries to apply what they did to someone else or an athlete in a different sport. Well the chances are great that it wouldn't work 100% for another. Through out this page I will explain why it isn't just the strongest who wins or the fastest.... it is much more complicated!!!!!
Since these sports are 100% individual, each training program should be designed totally toward that indiviuals situation. For example, if I was to put a running back through a point gaurds workout plan, then there is about a 100% chance that the running back's performance would decrease. Yes.....DECREASE!! Anyone can make an athelete sweat and get tired. That doesn't make a great trainer or even a great athelete. It is understanding all the fitness goals that are required by that athelete so when it comes to game time they can perform until the very end. And most importantly to be able to perform at peak levels without getting injured!!
Do you remember that phrase......"You are only as strong as the weakest link"! When it comes to designing programs this is the foundation to success. If there is a weak link in someones total fitness then that one little thing can cost them the game, career, etc.
For example: If you are trying to have a boxers punching power increased for a fight and you train them to be powerful but when they get in those later rounds...what happens? Where is all the power and they also end up losing accuracy, speed, reaction time, etc. I'll try not to be too confusing let me explain below.....
Have you ever seen a skeleton in a class room. What holds the bones together? Screws and bolts right! Well, we don't have screw or bolts in us but we have muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Just think of our body as a pully system. You have muscles that are primary movers which move a arm or leg. An example would be the Deltoid (shoulder), Triceps, etc. Then we have synergistic muscles that support the primary movers like the hamstrings. And last and the most important are the stabalizers. These put our bones and joints in certain postitions so we can move. The stabalizers are the foundation. If they are not conditioned and balanced then the whole system fails. Plus most of the time an athelete never really reaches their full potential because their foundation is not conditioned to allow peak performance. Who cares if a boxer can jump rope 30 minutes or run miles. They are not in a jump rope contest or a marathon. These are exercise tools which can be used but does not make a boxer or MMA star great.
Please contact me if you are serious about wanting to make sure you reach peak performance in every aspect of what you do. I'm not about magazine science or gym science. I apply real sports science and most importantly on an individual basis.
